Community, education & photography is an ongoing project by Angela Stapleford.
Angela facilitates photography clubs in schools, including at Berger Primary School where she collaborates with photographer Fi Backhouse. Angela has trained to teach in the lifelong learning sector and support teaching in schools, studied BA Photographic Arts at the University of Westminster and MA History of Art (Photography) at Birkbeck College. Her art history research interests include the representation of childhood, 19th Century seaside portrait photographers and 1970s radical photographers and collectives. Angela has worked alongside former members of 1970s photography collective the Hackney Flashers to develop an online resource of their work and with Birkbeck College’s History and Theory of Photography Research Centre to archive material relating to the life and work of Jo Spence.
